Overview

The city of Louisiana, Mo. adopted the following codes:

• The International Building Code, 2003 edition. Louisiana, Mo. Muni. Code, § 500.010 (adopted) with amendments at § 500.020.
• The International Residential Code, 2003 edition.  Louisiana, Mo. Muni. Code, § 500.110 (adopted) with amendments at § 500.120.
• The International Property Maintenance Code, 2003 edition. Louisiana, Mo. Muni. Code, § 500.160 (adopted) with amendments at § 500.170.

Residential Building Code

Missouri has yet to adopt a statewide residential code. Local laws will control.See PLRB, Missouri Building Codes for more information on state level codes.

Louisiana adopted the 2003 IRC, locally. Note that adoptions usually come with amendments. So, it is important to review those amendments in addition to the unamended model code.

Existing Buildings

Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.

Appendix J of the 2003 IRC and the International Property Maintenance Code, 2003 edition, apply. Louisiana, Mo. Muni. Code, § 500.160 (adopted) with amendments at § 500.170.
